Learn as much as possible about the position, the company, and the interviewers themselves. The more detailed information you have about the company and the position, the better prepared and more interested you look to the employer. Go to the library and visit the company’s web site.

1. PREPARING QUESTIONS. No matter how thorough the employer is in the interview, you must ask questions. This demonstrates interest and thinking ability.

2. ASKING, “WHAT IS THE NEXT STEP?” Tell the employer you were interested prior to the interview and are now even more so.

3. EMPHASIZING AREAS OF YOUR BACKGROUND. Think of specific examples that demonstrate your related experience. Sell yourself and your abilities through play back.

4. MAINTAIN EYE CONTACT. This shows the interviewer that you are confident in your abilities, and that you meet every challenge head-on.

5. PAY ATTENTION. Show that you are interested both in what is under discussion as well as the job position. Listen to what your interviewer is asking and telling you and ask questions that show that you are paying attention.

6. BE POSITIVE. Your attitude could mean the difference between a successful interview and job offer and a failure. Refrain from disparaging comments about former employers or job positions.

7. DRESS FOR SUCCESS.
BE READY. Pick out what you are going to wear the night before, make sure it is clean, neat and if needed ironed.
SHOES. Make sure your shoes say what you want them to say. Polish and clean your shoes before a big interview.
PERSONAL HYGIENE. Neat outlook, including hair and nails can make the interviewer look at you in a favorable manner.
LESS IS MORE. A minimalist, conservative approach for your interview is recommended. You want the attention to be focused on you, not your clothes or accessories.
NO EXTRAS. Do not carry gum, coffee, soda, a media player or a computer and please cover tattoos if possible. Take a breath mint to use before entering the building for your interview, just in case.
